About

Samantha Allan and Glenn Boulter formed BRIC in 2008 as a new partnership organisation that is dedicated to developing community projects throughout South West Cumbria, initially focusing on the area of Broughton-in-Furness. The name of the organisation is taken from the French word bricolage, meaning to create something new and meaningful from a diverse source of material, people and places.

BRIC has been developed as a direct outcome of The Broughton Sound Tour (a project delivered in 2008 which worked with the communities of Millom and Broughton to create a piece of work for the FRED 08 festival. The positive response from the participators and audience led to further demand for high quality community arts events within the area from local residents, public organisations such as The Victory Hall Committee, The Lake District Sustainability Fund and local councils such as the Duddon Parish Council and South Lakeland District Council.
